Amazon Goes Global… again.

Stopping by www.jakonrath.blogspot.com I saw him post about Amazon’s newest expansion project with the kindle – India.

I smiled.

There have been talks about why Amazon isn’t everywhere yet and the reason is simple:  expansion takes time.  Takes planning.  Imagine if Amazon over did it and their servers crashed.  Imagine one day – or more – without Amazon.  Ouch.  And plus, the longer they wait, the more it builds and builds.  That’s called strategy.

Amazon is in Germany, and now next year, they’ll be in India.  For us, as authors, it’s a new marketplace to sell our books.  But Konrath brings in a great point… translation.

Then again, English is a BIG language that people want to speak.  I read that 30% of India speaks English.  Translation is HIGH HIGH HIGH cost, so I put my hope into those in India and Germany wanting to read English language books.

Either way, this is exciting.  It may take a while for Amazon to get everything going but it’s the idea of it… Amazon expanding with the kindle.

And you thought ebooks were big now?  Heh, just wait… just wait…
