I'm signed up again but it seems like I not doing it yet. I've really fallen behind. Too much going on so far this month. But I will vouch for the great experience it is having won the past two years.

Thanks David. The tough part with free is that "sold" means downloaded, not a real transaction. And how many people download because it's free versus how many people actually read it? Now sure maybe people will get to it someday and come back for more, but that's a gamble. Who knows. I do think FREE can work in some circumstances, but in the entire ebook world, free is a killer. Indie movie people charge $20 for their DVD's, just like Hollywood. Same goes for artists... they charge too.
This is art, and it's business.
It's hard to sell books no matter what. The key is to keep on writing and keep on publishing.

Thanks for your comment.

Can't help wishing I'd written this, Jim. I put one of my books out free and shifted over 300 copies. Then I put a price on it and ... zip. I don't think anything one of those freebie "readers" read it. But I learned my lesson. The only freebies I give away are extracts and shorts on my site.

Yes, I keep looking at the calendar, with some trepidation. Just over four freaking days left!!?? Yike.

I have more to do on sketching out plot points, markers it would be good to hit. And I'm intent on better time management this year. We'll see how that goes.

Best of luck with your novel.
